It Has Taken Ages to Re-Find This....
A friend posted this on Facebook a while back, and I thought it was worth sharing, as well as taking to heart and putting into practice.
I have had two exhibition days; on Tuesday 'David Hockney - A Bigger Picture' at the Royal Academy, and then yesterday to Tate Britain for 'Picasso and Modern British Art'. Both excellent. Also spent time with friends; it was the words of Pilar which echoed what I knew I had read, and prompted me to find this quotation again. I am going to create a little space in my little flat to 'draw, paint and think' as a complement to my studio weaving which is a fairly public activity some of the time, and often interrupted. I also need to get back to my reflective journalling, revisiting old thoughts and asking new questions of myself and my work.

a most extraordinary quote, i need to think about it for a while.
ReplyDeletethanks for posting it.
many, many years ago i wove a large tapestry of one of David Hockney's pool paintings, i remember when i finished the sandals and they actually looked like sandals, i was so excited i rang up a friend and screamed at her that i had just made the sandals - she had no idea what i was talking about. a funny memory.
I was wondering about making one of the tree paintings, but am also drawn to making a Richter one. Decisions...
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the excitement and having to share it. One of the things I miss about being at WD is being with people who understand (and probably join in the scream!) rather than nodding politely.
