Tomorrow's the Day!

All ready to pack the pick-up and move lock, stock and barrel into the Cathedral. My loom building slave buddy is arriving at 6.45 am, but for the life of me I cannot remember why we decided to start so early! The hire place (aka Acro City) does not open until 7.30, and it is not going to take long to load the stuff I have here. Still, the early bird catches the verger. We have special permission to park by the bell tower and use the secret door into the North Transept. I am hoping that by the end of the residency I shall be au fait with all the nooks and crannies. I may even pluck up courage for a visit up the spire, if I can curb my vertigo.......

Residency (Up)date

We will be building the loom and warping up in the North Transept of Chichester Cathedral on February1st.

2nd-9th, 12th, 14th, 16-17th, 21-23rd, 26th and 28th.

On other days I shall be there 3-6pm.

Do Come and Visit!

*except for breaks, when you will find me in the Cloisters Cafe - they make very good Hot Chocolate!

Brer Sheep and the Briar Patch

Such a beautiful morning that I decided to go up to Harting Down and have a yomp along part of the South Downs Way to a nice ruin (I do like a nice ruin, especially when the views from it are good).

Doglet and I went off the SDW for a while and she was spooked by a noise in a bramble thicket.  Some poor sheep had got itself completely tangled and was struggling and making it worse.  It calmed down when I spoke to it, and lay quietly whilst I cut the thorns and some of its fleece to release it - so glad that I sharpened my Opinel knife the other day - Doglet stood and watched the proceedings without making any fuss or noise.  It took about half an hour, but I got it out:-

Where the sheep was

Where it went to

The state of me (with a view to the North!)

And yes, we did make it to the tower:-

Too much of a biting wind to sit and sketch it today, but will work from photos for my DaD (drawing a day).

Look What I Got! (Vegetarians look away now)

A brace of pheasants delivered by an admirer! This is what happens when you live in shooting country. Worry Not; I will not be posting pictures of the preparation process. Which is messy.

Lost and Found

I have lost my acros!! Not even the wholes, just the top sections. They are not at TM, nor in the gargantuan room of stuff garage. Why would anyone steal only the top sections? Grrr! Now I will have to go and hire some tomorrow. Although Jules has told me of a toolhire firm in Chi who have loaned her stuff in the past as a way of sponsoring art projects. They will be my first port of call...
The good news is that in searching in the gargantuan room of stuff garage I found my Photoshop CS2 installation discs, so it is now installing on the MacBook Pro that my Boy gave to me last year when he upgraded. It was running so slowly on my PowerBook that I had just given up using it.

Ungood news. My CS2 will not install as it is a PowerPC version. Chiz.

Weaver's Playtime II

Neck and leg (well, ankle) warmers. Two hours total! They are more pink than this photo makes them look. A slight diversion from the Icelandic Lopi sweater I have gone back to after a two year hiatus. I have joined a 'Stitch n Bitch' group which meets on Monday evenings in a pub in Chi. A chance to complete all the UFOs which have built up......

Tomorrow I start my first proper (= conventional) job since 2005! Two days a week in an art shop; it is what I have been waiting for. Also all sorts of meetings and preparations for the Residency. Only eight days to go! Thereafter will be blogging daily.

Weaver's Playtime

As well as doing a lot of walking while I am between residencies, I have been catching up with other making - I made all my Christmas gifts this year, for the first time. This is this evening's effort, an owl cushion made from a felted Shetland cardigan and some curtain sample scraps. He is very snuggly, and I might make some small ones from the leftovers.
